Autumn Ivy | Bellingham Photographer

I saw this ivy growing up the way of a mini mall, and I thought it was the coolest thing.  Luckily, I had my camera with me.

Reflections | Bellingham Photographer

On one of the few sunny days we've had in October, my sister and I decided to go outside and photograph what we say.  I saw this perfect reflection in a mud puddle of her and decided to snap it.

Old Fishing Pier at Sunset | Bellingham Photographer

I am sick.  Horribly, ridiculously sick.  I have bronchitis and strep throat - neither of which are pleasant on their own let alone when they've teamed up to clobber an individual.  Because I've been sick, I haven't really taken advantage of opportunities to go out and snap some photos.  Instead, I'm posting these photos that I took last Friday and only just found the energy to process today.

The subject is the same - on old fishing pier at sunset - but I used a different lens for each.  I wanted to capture a fuller image, but then I decided I wanted a more robust silhouette of the pier house where they unload the boats.

Evergreens in Autumn | Bellingham Photographer

This is the little woods that is by my home.  I like traveling through this place because there is always so much to photograph.  Sure, it is basically tall trees and ferns, but I love how it looks different every time I visit this place simply because of the light.

Cold Day on the Beach | Bellingham Photographer

The weather is definitely getting colder.  Though we had sunny skies all day yesterday, the temperatures definitely warranted a warm jacket; however, that still wasn't enough to keep me away from the beach.

Birch Bay State Park | Bellingham Photographer

The wind wasn't blowing, so I thought I would go out and see what kind of photographs I could take using reflections.  It is always a lot easier taking these types of photographs when the wind isn't blowing.  However, when I stumbled across this little wooden foot bridge, I had to photograph it too!  You'll see the bridge in a couple of posts down because I was practicing my HDR skills on the image, but I admit to preferring this image more.

October Lavender | Bellingham Photographer

A few days ago, I was out shooting some photographs and came across this large clump of lavendar.  I was shocked (and impressed) the clump was still alive and had blossoms on it, so I had to take a few photographs as proof of my discovery.

Print Donation | Bellingham Photographer

I am about to meet a woman I went to junior high and high school with in a few hours.  She currently works for a shelter for women of domestic violation and/or sexual assault, and the shelter is having a fund raiser in a couple of weeks. She asked me if I would donate a print for the silent auction - which I agreed to do - which is why we're meeting today. I need to hand off the image (see below).
I am actually very proud of this image. I had an idea for a shot, so I drove all over the county looking for a run-down shack to photograph. I wanted to do some processing effects to make the image look old, and then title it "Shelter From the Storm"; however, I saw this shack - with it's turquoise blue tarp for a door and "Home Sweet Home" sign hanging over the threshold - and decided this was the image for me. I have titled it "Home Sweet Home" and simply muted the colors to get the effect I was looking for in the print.

Here is information on the fundraiser.  If you're interested in attending - let me know and I'll send you her information so you can purchase tickets.
