A Heron Day | Bellingham Photographer

I don't know why, but lately I've been photographing a lot of heron.  It seems that wherever I go, there seems to be a little cluster of them - waiting for me to photograph them.  They are still extremely cautious and don't hesitate to fly away when I get too close, but some let me get close enough to snap a solid photograph.

Cautiously Watching | Bellingham Photographer

The weather outside is definitely dark and depressing.  With temperatures well below freezing, we keep getting reports of snow but haven't seen any yet.  Who knew that a few days ago we would be on the tail end of a stretch of sunshine and blue skies.

I'm missing that sunshine and blue sky, so I thought I would post this photograph I took a couple of days ago.  This bald eagle allowed me to get pretty darn close - probably closer than I have gotten in the past.  Of course, the cautious guy kept his back to me the entire time.  I tried to walk around the tree to get a few good frontal shots, but the drop-off below prevented me from doing so.

Bird Day Afternoon | Bellingham Photographer

Since the sun was shining yesterday, I decided to go out with my camera.  Everywhere I looked, there were either bald eagles or hawks, though I did manage to photograph a pheasant.  Quite happy with the day.

Until Him... | Bellingham Photographer

This is my first bad boy of the season. I have gone out severla times on the hunt for bald eagles - my cameras at the ready. Unfortunately, I have not really had any good opportunities to push that shutter button. That is, until I saw him.

Today I'm heading out again. This time I'm heading out with a friend, whose family property borders a river that is popular with spawning salmon right now. According to the friend, bald eagles are plentiful. So, with camera bag in hand... I'm off!

As the Sun Sets | Bellingham Photographer

Decided to take a few sunset photographs, but managed to find a little shadow in the form of a seagull.  This one followed me wherever I went on the beach - waiting to see if I would throw it some food.  I didn't have any food on me to throw, but I did manage to get a few photographs of it before it was time to climb back into my truck.  The November chill and wind was just a bit too much for me that day.

Some Local Wildlife...

Unfortunately, I have had the flu since last Friday.  So I've been house-bound since then and haven't been able to get out and take any photographs.  However, the cabin fever reached it's peak and I had to get outside.  With my camera bag, I spent an hour out and about, and I managed to capture a little bit of the local wildlife.
